So with the new website, I (of course) feel compelled to fill it with content. And given that The Ruined Throne is almost 2 months away from being released, I wanted to give every little lurker who stumbles over my website a little author update!
I’ve almost finished the draft of The Ruined Throne. Afterward, I’ll be putting it through the processor for edits/revisions (believe me, it’ll need it), then I’ll send it to my ARC team!
This means that if you’ve read The Shadow Curse and would love to become a member of my ARC team, I would love to have you join the group! I actually have a Facebook group dedicated to my small band of readers and friends interested in reading in advance!
Along with that, I’m launching my newsletter! I haven’t entirely made up my mind on how I will be campaigning but I definitely plan to send weekly newsletters out. The goal is to connect with readers, incite excitement for upcoming releases, as well as let you in on exclusive sales, giveaways, and other treats (*cough* freebies *cough*).
You may be wondering now, “Oh, Kala. This post seems like a shameless plug-in.” Maybe–but actually, I feel that my first official blog post on this new (and permanent) site should be a preemptive one. Given that as an indie author, I’ve invested time and energy into giving my readers quality content, I want my readers to know what they can expect with these features.
With the Facebook ARC group, advanced/beta readers will get exclusive snippets on my work-in-progresses, as well as details about characters, backstories, and lores that wouldn’t be shared elsewhere. They get first dibs on upcoming releases and could just as easily influence me to create something else in the future (prequels, spinoffs, etc.).
My newsletters will be filled with weekly updates as well as exclusive offers, giveaways, and events that I participate in.
To be honest, as far as I’m seeing, that doesn’t leave much content for my public blog, but I’ve figured that I will save my public blog for articles surrounding the craft of writing and my experience and hard-learned lessons I’ve discovered along the ride of my writing career, and announcements on upcoming releases.
